The Great Old One has awakened. His taint is spreading across the Earth. Monsters emerge from the darkness to lay waste to the world of man and the balance of life and death is shattered. It's the zombie apocalypse as you've never experienced it before.
"Eric S. Brown's The Taint is an adrenaline-laced and action-packed tale of Humanity's last stand. The Great Old One awakens, the door to Hell swings open, and the final struggle begins."
(Stephen A. North, author of Beneath the Mask and the Dead Tide Series)
“…extremely graphic and could be very disturbing to readers less accustomed to the genre… readers who aren't bothered by face-eating monsters might find this story more than worth their while.”

The Taint eBook Eric S Brown Jack Larson
As horror stories go, this one is decent, or a decent descent into horror. A descent with no hope of rising back up. The story is creepy with a strong action-oriented sugar glaze. The sprinkles of maggots on top, though, the real treat, is the art. Each image in the novel moves the story along, adds to each verbal scene. It was the cover art, by Jack Larson that caught my attention. He's become a go-to artist for Dark Silo press, and I like that. A lot. It sets this novel apart from other horror novels I've been reading. Well done and highly recommended!Product details

The Taint eBook Eric S Brown Jack Larson Reviews
Very entertaining, fast paced novella. As a reader of H.P. Lovecraft and a zombie genre aficionado, this was right up my alley.
Picture a rocket, aimed at a mountaintop. That's the story arc. The tale opens with an agent fending off hordes with an AK-47. When the clips are gone, so is he. And the story accelerates from there. The author's style matches his plot. Fast, clean and ruthless. The illustrations that accompany the book are a full-on nightmare. What a dark, twisted story!
This is a fun jaunt down the Lovecraft rabbit hole and we all know how far that goes. Not for the faint of heart or weak of mind, because the Great Ones are back and they plan on sucking face and not in a good way. For those of us who have reread the Lovecraft classics time and time again - and we know who we are - this is a fine addition to the mythos. It is great to see a small press take up the mantel and take a position on the wall to defend our right to be scared by the truly horrifying. The artwork is fantastic and adds a bit of extra horror to the text. Read and remember, that "thump" you heard may just not be the cat.
